The Jazz concert the four of us(me, olivia,roy & kyung) went to at the Jazz Bakery for music 33 class on Thursday night was AWESOME! <3 it! The instrumentists are all so talented. wooo- i wonder how flawlessly they are able to reach those oh-so-high notes. my favorite piece is Lovely, self-composed by the trumpeter, Maurice Brown. :) It's romantic & pleasant to my ear. (the tenor sax & trumpet sound is beautiful!) ^^= *smitten*
The 2nd concert I went to today is for extra credit(yah. i did not do so good on my 1st test). My teacher is a part of the Leslie Drayton & Fun band, playing the tenor & soprano saxophone alternately. notice that the name Leslie Drayton sounds familiar to you, fel. :) indeed. your former music 33 professor plays the trumpet. I am sorry to say that the selections played sounded a little monotonous. i thought that the other one sounded more youthful and variative. no doubt about them being very talented though. ;p
and the band wouldn't be called "Fun" for nothing. one of SMC's very own student who is also a vocalist soon transferring to Berkeley School of Music is invited upstage to perform a song with them. oh my. That girl is one helluva singer. Such a powerful voice she has. oh yah, the pianist of the group is a SMC student too.
Pirates of Carribean is funny. funny. funny. comical in every sense. haha- i love how the plot goes to include all those hillarious scenes without making the movie dumb. Jack sparrow really died? hmmm.
